The super badger bristles hold water and lather way better than my old synthetic brush ever did. I went with the R4 since I shave at home, and it's a full, dense knot that feels soft on the face but still has enough backbone.

Loaded a travel tube with the R1 and it fits perfectly, no squishing the bristles. The super badger whipped up a dense lather from a hard soap in maybe twenty seconds. Face feels great after, no scratchiness at all.

The loft on the R4 is wonderfully dense, so the lather holds heat and doesn't splay too wildly across my face. It's a proper luxurious brush for slow weekend shaves, though I'd grab my smaller travel one if I were heading out.
