A collaboration between St James's Church, Piccadilly and D. R. Harris raising money for The Wren Project whilst celebrating St James's Piccadilly's appearance at Chelsea Flower Show - the first church ever to be featured. St. James's 1684 is a fragrance inspired by the reredos which majestically backdrops the altar in Christopher Wren's 1684 Masterpiece, St. James's Piccadilly. The reredos, carved by Grinling Gibbons, the most talented wood carver of his day, features an incredibly detailed selection of plants, botanicals, shells and birdlife. Part of this is captured in the wonderfully detailed illustration feature on the label. In creating this unisex fragrance we have focused on Roses, Cabbage Roses, Freesias and Pears in particular from the varied flora captured in the lime wood carvings. The fragrance itself is a rounded and vibrant blend evocative of orchards steeped in golden sunshine with the aroma of just-ripe pears wrapped in elegant white freesias, enhanced with rose, rooted in patchouli, vetiver and akigalawood. At first slightly floral but mellowing into a fresh, complex lively aroma. Top Notes: Williams Pear, Apple, Pink Pepper Mid Notes: Freesia, Rose, Jasmin Base Notes: Musk, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Akigalawood 50% of all sales will be donated to St James's Church, Piccadilly's Wren Project. The scent has a refined, churchy warmth that feels fitting for its Chelsea Flower Show inspiration, and it lasts a good six hours on my skin without turning sharp. Knowing part of the price supports The Wren Project makes the purchase feel even better.

The floral notes lasted a solid six hours on my collar, which surprised me for an eau de toilette, and the church-inspired backstory makes it feel like a meaningful keepsake. I've already gotten two compliments from strangers, and it's lovely knowing a share of the purchase supports The Wren Project

Smelled this on paper first, then my wrist, and the dry-down has this gentle warmth that lasts a good six hours on me. Knowing part of the sale goes to The Wren Project makes wearing it feel a bit special, too.
